Lindy_beforeLindy_after2I was 33 years old and weighed 217 pounds. I couldn’t keep up with my kids anymore. My weight bearing joints, like hips, ankles, and knees were starting to hurt every day. My desire to participate in daily activities was very low. I always had bad eating habits and exercise was almost non existent.

I had tried every diet that came out. I tried exercising by myself and with friends but couldn’t find a program that worked for me. I thought “I’m too young to be this out of shape” and I was afraid of what I might be teaching my family.

It was important to me not to lose what I had learned in camp so I set goals that would keep me motivated and on track. I set a goal to be able to do 10 boy push ups and to be able to run a 5k. The Core exercises I learned at camp were a huge benefit in helping me accomplish these goals.

My daily exercise routine now consists of 30 minutes cardio (I love to run), 30 minutes of Boot Camp exercise. I like to challenge myself everyday and set small goals I know I can achieve. For example 5 extra punch crunches or 30 extra seconds of plank (which you remember that I hate!).

My overall health has greatly improved. I have lost 65 pounds and 36 ¼ inches overall. My goal this year is to run in a 70 mile relay. My energy level is at an all time high and most days I can out play my kids. I enjoy shopping for clothes and I can fit in my wedding dress again!*

st-george-utah-weight-loss-success-storieshealth-and-fitness-resorts-success-stories health-and-fitness-resorts-testimonials Sheer desperation drove me to Lifestyle Fitness. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. I was 68-years-old and had packed 230 pounds onto my 5 foot 2 inch frame. I looked horrible. And I felt worse. My type 2 diabetes was out of control, with fasting blood sugars near 300, and I stood in real danger of losing my eyesight or a kidney or my very life. My doctor scolded and cajoled but offered no viable solutions, and I had no idea where to turn for help.

I began searching the Internet for a live-in rehab unit for weight loss. That’s where I found Lifestyle Fitness. The very word “fitness” was scary to me. I have never been athletic and don’t even like to watch sports, much less participate in them.

I had never been inside a gym and could barely walk to the mailbox without running out of breath and energy. But I was desperate and willing to try anything to regain control of my life and my health, so I mustered my courage and called for information.

Two weeks later, I was on a plane to Las Vegas en route to St George, Utah, where I met Jen and Chad Bullen for the first time. I was terrified, worried I wouldn’t be able to stick to a diet, worried that I wouldn’t like the food they would make me eat, worried that I couldn’t do the exercises they would expect, worried that I would look like a fool in the gym, and yet hoping against hope that maybe they could help me.

As it turned out, all of my fears were unfounded. Jen and Chad were charming, very kind and encouraging, and did their best to put me at ease.

I stayed at Lifestyle for six weeks. I arrived a woman broken in both body and spirit. Day by day Jen and Chad ministered to me and brought me back to life.

They gave me a vision of what I could be, what the rest of my life could look like. What I could look like. I had expected the whole experience to be something I had to endure, rather like an ongoing root canal, but it wasn’t like that at all. It was fun, it was positive, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

My six weeks at Lifestyle were some of the best of my life, full of camaraderie, excitement and discovery. I arrived an old woman, thinking my life would soon be over and feeling so miserable that I didn’t really care. I left a new woman, feeling strong and confident and excited about my future, and knowing that Jen and Chad had given me the tools I needed to continue to improve at home.

I lost 27 pounds while at Lifestyle Fitness, and in the 12 weeks I’ve been home I’ve lost another 29 (as shown in second photo), bringing my total to 56 pounds (and 56 inches) so far. I have 34 pounds to go to reach my goal (as shown in third photo), and I am sure I will achieve it (she did!). I look like myself again, I feel wonderful, and I’ve been able to eliminate about half the prescription medications I was taking. My blood sugars are in the normal range.

I have no desire to be an athlete, but I have completely changed my lifestyle. I enjoy working out at a local gym for three hours each weekday morning, where I work with a personal trainer and continue many of the activities Jen and Chad taught me. I also take my puppies for a one to two-mile hike a few times a week.

I owe it all to Chad and Jen, and I will never be able to thank them enough. Not only did they give me back my life, I’m sure they extended its span by at least a decade*.

mary_beforemary_after I have always struggled with my weight. When asked to remember a time before food became an obsession, I literally draw a blank. As a child I must have turned to food as a comfort in times of trouble, and as an adult I would turn to it at any time.

Being, a diminuitive, 5’2″, it has never been easy for me to hide my extra weight. My coping skill has always been on display. After a particularly tough year, divorce and death just being a few of the low lights, I found myself at my highest weight ever.

As an erstwhile yoga teacher, I found that the only clothes I could wear were my stretchy pants and t-shirts. I wore them everywhere. Even to church the Sunday before I made it to Lifestyle. Picking up the phone and calling was one of the scariest moments in my life. While I knew the price was very right, and that I had the time to commit, I was scared.

Calling somehow made the decsion final. As a naturally stubborn person, it was hard to admit that I needed that much help to get my weight under control. Making that call and the subsequent airline reservations etc, was perhaps one of the best, most rewarding choices I have ever made. Not only have Chad and Jen Bullen helped me get my weight solidly under control, they have in a sense, truly given me a second chance at my life.

I have more confidence, strength and energy. I have regained a sense of empowerment and control. I have moved through the toughest workouts to get to the other side with a sense of pride I have never known before. I have literally climbed a mountain.

There is an apt metaphor for getting to the other side of a gruelling workout. The last year of my life felt at times unliveable, unbearable. But here I am on the other side of things, better for it and thankfully more at peace. The program is simple, but make no mistake, it is not easy.

But through my hard work and their dedication to me as a person and an athelete, I am now packing a mighty toolbox that will help me weather the ups and downs of my life in a much healthier and happier way. Oh, and I have dropped 4 dress sizes in two months.

YES! I have made lifelong friends at Lifestyle Fitness Camp, and you will too. Not just with your fellow campers but with the hands on owners! Most of all, you will make friends with yourself. You deserve the gift of a better life. Make your plans today!!!*

paula_before2paula_after1a My stay at Lifestyle Fitness camp was one of the best experiences of my life. In the month I was there, I lost 16 pounds. More importantly, I got back on track and know that I can continue to get healthy on my own.

Chad and Jen were great to work with (and we did work hard). There was no screaming in your face … just positive encouragement and a healthy plan. I especially loved the hikes and all the surrounding beauty … I would forget I was even getting exercise.

I thought I knew everything to know about “diets” as I have tried every one of them over the years and I’m not stupid. Actually, I planned to start a “diet” every Monday for the last 2 years and gained 20 pounds. I now know that I didn’t need a dreaded “diet”.

I needed a kick start and to re-focus. I have to replace my indulgent bad habits with healthy ones … and Lifestyle Fitness Camp helped me do just that. My cholesterol went from 248 to 218 in that short time … so it is headed in the right direction.

I have traveled all over the world, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Greece, Tahiti, Denmark, Belgium and many more wonderful places, so I have gotten around. I must say that southern Utah is one of the MOST beautiful places I have ever been in my life, it’s the truth!

I can’t wait to go back and hike, hike, hike. Put this experience on your Bucket List … sooner than later.

If you don’t think you can hike or you’re not “outdoorsy”, Chad and Jen will come up with a plan for you. I have complete confidence in them*.
